Arena is the new technical sponsor of the Polish Swimming Federation


Tolentino , February 13 2009 - Arena, the leading sports waterwear company, will be the new technical sponsor and official supplier of the Polish Swimming Federation (POLSKI ZWIĄZEK PŁYWACKI) until December 2012.

Based upon the results of its swimming champions, the Polish Federation is renowned as one of the best Swimming Federations in Europe. The unquestionable star of the swimming team is the Olympic champion Otylia Jedrzejczak (26), who is part of the “Arena Elite Team” since January 2007 by mean of an individual sponsorship contract. Otylia, record-holder in the 200m butterfly at the age of 18, since 1999 has netted a series of world-class results including gold in 200m butterfly and two silvers in 100m butterfly and 400m freestyle at the Athens Olympics (2004), two golds in 200m butterfly at the World Championships in Barcelona (2003) and Montreal (2005). She also won the gold in her favorite discipline, 200m butterfly, at four consecutive European Championships in a long-course: in 2000, 2002, 2004 and in Budapest(2006, where she also won gold in 200m freestyle). She also won the gold in a short-course in 2001 and, in Helsinki short-course (2006) and Debrecen short-course (2007, where she also broke a world record).

Another extraordinary talent, Pawel Korzeniowski (24), has shown himself to be one of the best performing swimmers 200m fly and 400m Free. In 200m fly he has won world title in Montreal(2005), European title both in a long-course in Budapest(2006) and in a short-course in Trieste (2005) and Helsinki (2006) and a bronze medal in Manchester at the 2008 world short-course championships. In 400m free he has won European title in a short course in Debrecen (2007 ) .

Last but not least, Mateusz Sawrymowicz, born in 1987, become the world champion of 1500 m free style in the Melbourne World Championships 2007, defeating the Australian giant Grant Hackett, who had remained unbeaten in this discipline for four consecutive world championships.

We had been following the performance of this Federation with extreme interest and appreciation –said Cristiano Portas, Chief Executive Officer of the Arena Group– We approached the Polish swimming world in 2007 by sponsoring Otylia Jedrzejczak and Pawel Korzeniowski. Then we got closer and closer with this Federation and we are extremely proud to have now the chance to support them until London 2012".
